Agarwood: "HuiAn Series" and "SinZhou Series"

Most people who are familiar with agarwood would have heard of the concepts of ''HuiAn Series'' and ''SinZhou Series'', which are actually regional distinctions.

The simplest one is the ''Guan Xiang'' series, where the character ''Guan'' indicates its place of origin - the famous agarwood forests in Dongguan.

The ''SingZhou Series'' and ''HuiAn Series'' are two major regions where imported agarwood originates, and we use these terms because they refer to two large areas.

The ''SinZhou Series'' mainly includes Malaysia and Indonesia as the main production areas, while the ''HuiAn Series'' is represented by Vietnam. To simplify, you can think of ''Series'' as always being associated with oceans and islands, pointing to the scattered islands of the Malay Archipelago.

HuiAn Series: Hui An is a small coastal town in Vietnam that was once colonized by France, and there are still French-style villas in the area. Agarwood from the surrounding areas is transported to HuiAn port through inland rivers, and then shipped to Southeast Asia and even the world from the port. Therefore, agarwood from various production areas shipped out from HuiAn port is collectively referred to as ''HuiAn Series'' agarwood. The agarwood producing areas under the HuiAn Series include China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar.

SinZhou Series: Singapore, in the past, was a major port for maritime transportation. In the past, agarwood produced in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and other places had to be shipped to various parts of the world through Singapore first, so people collectively referred to agarwood produced in these places as ''SingZhou Series'' agarwood.
